Here’s some late night Saturday madness music for your song of the day. I’m too lazy to type their long name out again.

Your song of the day today is a symphony of tight bass drum and bass guitar coordination with some very interesting lyrics and vocal rhythm. In other words… Here’s a song by Balthazar.

Chet Faker really knows how to bring on the soul, funk and hip hop with a healthy smidgen of pop sensibility. Revel in the lyrics, lovers. Listen to those cool synths, ‘producers’. Sway to the groove, dancers. Here is your song of the day.

Mute Math are just so amazing in literally every aspect of their music. From production value in the studio to the aural and visual explosion of their live performances. They are definitely on my wish list of bands to come to South Africa (DO IT, OPPI).
Todays ‘Song Of The Day’ is a version of ‘In No Time’ that didn’t make it on to the Odd Soul album. It’s beautiful and I honestly don’t know how they chose between it and the original version.

Today’s song of the day is in my playlist called ‘for the drumming’ I’m now going to tag all the songs that I listen to for the drumming. Everything Everything is a rather strange band if I’m completely honest. The singers voice register is almost too damn high but I don’t mind. If I can listen to an entire Asteroids Galaxy Tour album I’m pretty sure I can deal with a slightly piercing voice. Listen out for the epic melody surprise in the chorus of this song.

Howzit, hello and Heeeeeeeey yaaaaaaaaaa…. Heeey yaaaaaa (sing outkast in your head.. ha! you got it)
I’m sure you’re tired of hearing all this song and dance about the earth vaguely reaching the same place is was around the sun 365 days ago.
For some reason people think that this beat in our solar system’s rhythm has an effect on their lives. Apparently starting new good habits and kicking old ones becomes an exciting adventure.
The thing is… Change really is happening in my life already. Literal change is making this concept of ‘new year – new me’ a tangible event.
There will be more on those changes later. First I have to see if the new year’s magic commitment enhancer works one more time with this promise. I will stop being so damn quiet on what should be a loud music blog.
“LOUD NOISES“……………… Thanks, Brick.
Here, have a cool song to listen to.

Fat Freddy’s Drop has always been my go-to when I’m in the mood for some Dub (Not it’s briefly famous evil retarded step-brother, Dubstep). The production value of their tracks is always great and their dynamic style is always refreshing in a world dominated over compressed electronica. The vocals always stick out in their tracks because they’re so smooth. There is a heavy R&B influence behind their vocal style. If you get bored listening to the song then you’re obviously not listening. Towards the end of this song is the best part, so be patient you silly millennials.

C’mon, Eagles of Death Metal, you say you don’t want the girl to fall in love and then you drop the groovy grunge chorus: “I only want you”. Make up your minds, rock legends. I’ll forget your indecision just this once. This song is just so Rock ‘n Roll that a bit of inconsistency in the lyrics is pretty much expected.

This song is for all you World-Music-phobes out there. The Cat Empire will deal with you, culture ignoramus, and then they will make you dance to the the tropical rhythm of Latin, Ska, and Spanish music with a whole lot of soul. They might even throw you a classical piano solo. It doesn’t what banner they fall under in anyone’s opinion. Their music is a month long holiday in your ears. Oh… you think their lyrics and melodies are cheesy? I invite you to go back to your formulaic electronic radio music. I’ll be over here listening to real instruments being played by sesoned musicians. I’ll have a stupid smile on my face cause this emanates so much happiness that it annoys me when I’m in a foul mood (either that or I’ll forget what I was angry about).

This South African duo is new on the scene but in the last couple months they have dropped some quality Hip-Hop tracks. All their tracks are available for download from soundcloud for free so grab them while you can. This particular song ‘Over The Horizon‘ has such a catchy sax melody that I’ve been singing it in my head all day. The Dirty Bandits consist of:
Jethro Lock (founder of The Indie Collective and The Night Owl, bassist for Hey!Bang!Dead! and fearless leader of The Tazers)
Oliver (chess master extrodinaire and sexy sax player)
